VFD Control Panel

A variable frequency drive control panel (also known as VFD panel, AC drive electrical control panel) is a frequency conversion device that controls three-phase AC motors (including fans and pumps) at variable speeds to save energy.

VFD is a shorthand for Variable Frequency Drive. These panels are used to regulate the speed of electric motors, as well as the feed pumps utilized in different industries. Each engine has its voltage and frequency, requiring a separate control panel to monitor and regulate them effectively. The VFD control panel combines or blends motor control devices and circuit protection devices inside an enclosure. This control panel can protect against dust, corrosion, moisture, and other damaging elements.
VFD control panels come with distinct ratings concerning NEMA. Some of the most well-known NEMA ratings comprise NEMA 1, NEMA 3R, NEMA 4, and NEMA 4X. What are the main components of a VFD control panel? The VFD control panel houses various control panel components, including the VFD line reactor harmonic filters, circuit breakers and cooling units, motor starters, and a bypass. What is the reason the VFD requires cooling units? The control panels generate heat, which is why they need cooling units too. The mentioned components are only some details; however, many other features are included within the VFD control panel.
Control panels like these are typically used for drilling, pumping, and other applications that require massive, heavy-duty machines such as conveyors and compressors. VFD control panels come offered in various power ratings, too.

1- Powers witching and protection
To turn the panel on and off and to provide protection in the event of a short circuit or overload in the circuits and variable speed drives, VFD panels are typically equipped with a circuit breaker that is connected to the input line power supply.
Additionally, VFD panels have the ability to cut off power to protect the operator while doing motor repair.

2- Adjustable speed
The front body of the VFD panel has a display and an operating panel that are connected to the electrical parts located inside the control cabinet. It is practical for the operator to regulate the motor during actual field operations and may clearly display the panel’s working state. The variable frequency drive panels are also equipped by the manufacturers with a variety of instruments and indicators, including voltmeters, ammeters, frequency meters, and power indicator lights, alarm lights, running lights, power frequency lights, etc., which will monitor the working status of the VFD control panels in real time.
3- Visual control
The front body of the VFD panel has a display and an operating panel that are connected to the electrical parts located inside the control cabinet. It is practical for the operator to regulate the motor during actual field operations and may clearly display the panel’s working state.
The variable frequency drive panels are also equipped by the manufacturers with a variety of instruments and indicators, including voltmeters, ammeters, frequency meters, and power indicator lights, alarm lights, running lights, power frequency lights, etc., which will monitor the working status of the VFD control panel in real time.
4- Security protection

Includes variable frequency drive, all other electrical components are integrated into the VFD panel, which reduces the impact of the external environment on the electrical components and guarantees the operator’s safety level, z rate of discharge risk, therefore it has a better safety protection function.

Typical Applications: water supply, air compressors, central air conditioning, port machinery, machine tools, boilers, paper machinery, food machinery, etc.
